The 16 to 19 Bursary fund provides financial support to help learners overcome specific financial barriers to participation so they can remain in education.

There are two types of bursary available, discretionary or vulnerable. To qualify for discretionary bursary, your household income must be £27,000 or below.

The discretionary bursary can help with travel, meals, essential kit/equipment and essential trips. Depending on your individual circumstances, you will receive free school meals or meal allowance.

If you are deemed vulnerable, you can receive up to £1,200. This will be split and paid weekly over the course of the academic year. To see if you are eligible to apply for the vulnerable bursary, please see the list of requirements below:

• in care
• care leavers
• receiving Income Support, or Universal Credit because they are financially supporting themselves or financially supporting themselves and someone who is dependent on them and living with them such as a child or partner
• receiving Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payments in their own right as well as Employment and Support Allowance or Universal Credit in their own right

Attendance of 95% and above together with good behaviour must be maintained to continue being eligible for the bursary.

To apply, please complete the bursary application form and return together with all the required supporting evidence which is listed on the form (please note these must be dated within the last three months).
