No one should go hungry over the festive season - that's the message from our fantastic HE Criminology with Psychology students!
The group of eight have come together to spread a little bit of Christmas cheer by organising a food collection, with all items collected donated to the Hull College foodbank and used to support those in need in our college community over the festive period.
A huge well done to the following students for such a wonderful gesture: Jasmine Chaffer, Annie Redfern, Sara Davison, Dani Stephenson, Elisha-Mae Reeve, Agata Parsons, Rebecca Campbell & Sharaz Akhtar.
The college set up its food bank initiative back in August to ensure students always have access to substantial and nutritious food, along with basic toiletries, throughout the academic year.
Zailie Barratt, Director of Learner and Customer Services, said: "As the COVID-19 pandemic continued to impact so many people in the city, it was imperative that we pulled together to support our students, and we were proud to do so with the launch of our food bank service earlier this year.
"It has been a lifeline for those students and their families who have needed that extra support over the last few months. No student should be going hungry at any time of the year, let alone Christmas, and to see a group of our students take it upon themselves to collect and donate such a large quantity of food is fantastic to see.
"Each and every one of them are a credit to the college and we can't thank them enough for their generosity and kindness. I am so proud to be part of this caring college community."
Anyone wishing to donate to the Hull College foodbank can do so by bringing donations to the Student Services Hub located in Chesters Reception.
