October 11, 2021
Observed on 10th October every year, World Mental Health Day aims to raise awareness of mental health issues, challenge and remove the stigma and barriers associated with mental health around the world, and mobilise efforts in support of mental health.
Mental health is everyone’s business. Mental health conditions can have a substantial effect on all areas of life, such as school or work performance, relationships with family and friends and ability to participate in the community.
Some people call mental health ‘emotional health’ or ‘well-being’ and it’s just as important as good physical health. When we feel mentally well, we can work productively, enjoy our free time, and contribute actively to our communities.
World Mental Health Day is about more than advocacy though. It also provides an opportunity to empower people to look after their own mental health and provide support to others.
Free and confidential counselling services are available to all Hull College students who need to talk about mental health, stress or any other issues affecting their emotional wellbeing.
We offer counselling and well-being support to all of our students whatever your background or situation, whether you are on a full-time, part-time or apprenticeship programme.
Our Counselling Service currently supports students by offering online and phone counselling, as well as face-to-face support.
If you are a student at Hull College and would like to contact our Counselling Service, please email listen@hull-college.ac.uk or text 07860023367 and we will get in touch with you as soon as possible.
