Course Overview

Overview: The combination of Criminology and Psychology offers a fascinating and complementary programme of study. Through this degree, you will be provided with: the opportunity to learn about factors influencing human experience and behaviour; an introduction to criminological theories and the nature of crime in society; and an understanding of crime and criminal behaviour from a number of different perspectives. During the programme you will build up your basic knowledge and skills in both Criminology and Psychology, which are quite distinct subjects that involve developing different, though related, skills and knowledge. Psychology is an investigative science, involving practical classes and report-writing, as well as acquiring knowledge and critically examining evidence. Criminology is a social science, therefore you will be expected to read independently for lectures and seminars, and contribute to discussions and debates as part of your studies. Entry Requirements: 64 UCAS Points, or suitable experiences can be taken into account when we consider applications. UCAS CODE: C816 Level Four Modules: Personal and Professional Development (20 credits) Work-related Learning (20 credits) Foundations of Criminology (20 credits) Introduction to Developmental Psychology (20 credits) Understanding the Individual (20 credits) Introduction to Sociological Inquiry (20 credits) Assessment: Takes on a variety of formats such as poster presentations, written assessments, presentations and reviews of case studies. Fees: £7500 Validating Partner: This programme is currently approved by Hull College Group Contact Hours: The FT programme is ten hours of contact time per week, you are also expected to complete self-directed study on a weekly basis to extend your subject knowledge.
